Bob Volin's submission is a nice tutorial on the forward sweep. The edging is crucial in a sea kayak. One thing that seems to help my students [God help them] is paying attention to what the "top" arm [the one not putting a blade in the water] does. Bob describes it correctly - keep it low. My extra advice is that the top hand should start on one side of the spraydeck and end on the opposite. Thus, in a forward sweep on the right, the left hand starts at the left hip, shoots straight across the belly as low as possible, and ends up almost on the right hip. For balance, a quick flip of the blade angle gives a low or a high brace.
