Hi Folks,

I would like to thank all who had the courtesy to respond to my Question on
V.H.F.

I have finally made a choice and spent £570.00?.On a Axis 200

I Looked at Icom/Standard/and Narvico/Axis 200.

The Icom I liked and whilst I feel it is the most uptodate and small, I still
felt the sound wasnt up to the job.In the water at night. In a gale, my
experience tells me small is good because you may well have it with you, but
maybe limited in the cold.

Standard was my prefered choice 350s, due to ruggedness and price and alkaline
option, but again I wasnt convinced in the water with loads of noise, it would
give me my best shot.

So I have bought an Axis 200 waterproof ?Dropproof? and Two Nicad battery
packs. Its a heavy portable and built when the accountants couldnt manage their
budget very well.

Its was built by navico who eventually sold the company to Simrad, who
purchased the product and the rights.

Its loud and seems almost bulletproof. It has great reviews over here from
people who have owned one for yrs.Batt life is down to 7hrs? but it will
double as a fixed set and it isnt to fumbly when your fingers get cold.

Im going to buy a Standard 350s for my floozie just in case she gets dunked,or
maybe just in case my nickads run out.

Thanks Once again All who responded,

John
