The lodge they worked at is in Tuka Bay, approxiamtely 14 miles south of Homer and is located in the area called Kachemak Bay. Casey Island is not on the map I have but I think it is only one mile maybe two from the Lodge. It is in a group of Islands know as the Herring Islands. Now that I study the map I can see another factor in the accident. This is a very remote spot. I am assuming they were alone caretaking the lodge because no one reported them missing. Also there would have been very few people traveling through this area at this time of year. There is a salmon hatchery about 6 miles from where the accident occured but anyone traveling by boat to the hatchery would have passed about a mile and a half away. In otherwords they were is a very remote spot, out of normal boat traffic lanes and no one knew they were out there. >Do you know where this bay is? I would like to include more information >about it on the website along with the articles. > >Thanks again :-) > >Jackie > *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
