for what it's worth, i am a violinist with chronic wrist problems. for
this reason i paddle unfeathered (which can be a drag in high winds, but my
paddle, a lightning offshore, can be switched to feathered). i also try to
make the stroke come from the abs, and use the open-hand technique. i will
try a bent-shaft paddle at some point but for now, as protective as i have
to be of my hands, i can paddle once or twice a week for a few hours and
with these techniques i do fine. and for the record my paddle is very
light. that seems to make a big difference for me.

Haven't paddled a bent shaft, so can't speak to it, but I do paddle a
Greenland paddle, and it is WAY easier on the wrists, no issues with
feathered/unfeathered, and I find it quieter to paddle as well.
Lest I be branded a zealot or anything, I also paddle spoon paddles on
a regular basis. When I find my wrists getting sore I do concentrate more on
technique, but just switching to the Greenland paddle seems to be the best
answer for me personally. My two cents worth-
Regards,
Kevin
