tupperware boats  (and my hunter green resin patio chairs)?

You could use a hair dryer or heat gun to partially melt the outer layer of
plastic.... ;-)

I used to modify my whitewater kayaks with a heat gun so that I would have
room for my feet.  This definitely adds a shine to the plastic.  Nowadays,
boat manufacturers are smarter about making boats for larger guys.
