[Paddlewise] Cold Hands

Something that I discovered really helps keep me warm
is to watch how tight I strap down my gloves and
jacket cuffs. Feeling that I really wanted to be
protected from the cold water, I always get the urge
to pull both the glove cinch and the jacket cuff nice
and tight; especially when it is really cold and
windy. With a latex gasket, neoprene glove and
neoprene jacket cuff all tight around the wrists, I
found that I was cutting off my hand circulation just
a little bit and that would make my hands a little
colder. Wonder of wonders, the actual water
protection is from the latex gasket and I found
leaving the other velcro tabs just a bit looser made
my hands stay a ton warmer.
