An invitation to Portland, Oregon and northwest coast boaters: On Saturday, April 13th, the Lower Columbia Canoe Club will host a very special slide show. Come see Tim Lehman's incredible slides and hear his tales of paddling in the icy Arctic Ocean off North Baffin Island. Imagine weaving a kayak between icebergs, greeting polar bear at your campsite, and seeing a forest of Arctic willows, with the tallest tree boasting a height of four inches. Tim Lehman will take us on a journey 500 miles north of the Arctic Circle where he and three companions spent a magical August. His slides will offer the Arctic beauty of a stark and often vertical landscape, plunging waterfalls, delicate flowers and grasses buffeted by the ever present wind, evidence of ancient Dorset culture, narwhals, glaciers, icebergs too numerous to count, the very rare bowhead whale, and the energizing 24-hour Arctic summer light.
