With all this talk about staking down tents I though I would share what I learned last night while setting my tent up in in Denali National Park. When it is 22 degrees below zero the only way to set a tent stake is with a hammer! Bob said; > When > it is 22 degrees below zero the only way to set a tent stake > is with a hammer! During the tent discussion prior to my trip last week, it was mentioned by a few that they just push the stakes into the ground. I didn't comment at the time, but my reaction was "Huh?!?!?!". In my neck of the woods, we have so much hard clay, that it recently (early Fall) took almost 2 hours to dig a 2 foot deep post hole with a manual post hole digger. Yo don't "dig" the soil, you basically chip away at it and scoop up the debris. It's not like that everywhere around here, but it is like that in many places around here. Unfortunately, my yard is one of those places. No, I just went up to Denali to cross country ski and to behold Denali in it's winter glory. I saw your pictures of Blackstone Bay. I am taking my son's scout troop there this summer, can I give the scouts the web address so they can get a better idea where I am taking them? Bob > Are you in the Iditarod??
