This is another approach to the visiting firemen idea for paddlers, i.e.
Paddlewisers may want to identify themselves as a potential point of
reference or visit for paddling opportunities but also indicate a local 
club
or paddling hangout to link up with or at.

Here in NYC, it is clearly the Downtown Boathouse
http://www.downtownboathouse.org which also has links to other local
sources.
