I'm in Rick's camp in this one. I have many times hooked up electronically with paddlers in other areas ahead of a visit to get the lowdown ... and been on the other end a few times, also. I prefer the informal method, rather than a formal spreadsheet method. I share Melissa's concerns re: privacy. In addition, I'm pretty fussy about who I paddle with, and sometimes I might opt out of paddles if I decide I don't like the way a trip is looking. OTOH, I have been the grateful recipient of much good info from this list (and Wavelength), so I'd say leave it like it is.
