[Paddlewise] Hypothermia "expert system"

Have a project to do for school --- CIO Certification --- outlining the
development of an "expert system" (ES). Essentially, an ES tries to capture
the knowledge of a series of experts and convert it into an interactive tool
to allow less qualified individuals to quickly and directly access the
collective wisdom of the experts on a specific issue or question when the
real folk are not available. Lots of "if this, then this" and some "if this,
this and not this" algorithms in an ES.

Anyway, rather than doing it on selecting paint chips or something, I'm
talking my study group into doing our ES on hypothermia. The result --- at
least in theory --- could be a laptop- or PDA-based interactive checklist ES
on the do's and don't's of treating hypothermia. (It may well just become an
interesting academic issue, but I'm wondering if any PaddleWisers are
familiar with anything similar to this idea in the real world, or if you can
pass along any Web sites that would be good for collecting the info?

Thanks for any ideas. You'll be foot-noted.
