Hey, thanks Steve for giving us yet one more thing to worry about being sued over. ;-) So what do you do for ROM drills instead of having them stretch? Frank asks: > So what do you do for ROM drills instead of having them stretch? > On dry land we introduce the paddle and it's parts and uses. We then go through some dryland strokes. They get the basic idea and movements. We then drop the paddles and do some arm/shoulder rotations and some neck and head rotations. We then sit down and do some torso rotations (go figure). Basic movements without the held stretch to the limit of ROM. This gets the blood flowing without the tension of stretch. After we enter the boats we may go through some more movements, especially if the group is re-visiting the boat (2nd-10th time) If it's their 1st time, we make sure they do nothing that takes them to a limit of their range in the first 1/2 hour (or more). Soft and cushy instruction.
