Another one I have for you is what sail rig did you use? I am looking at the Pacific Action sails from New Zealand right now. Hi RobCongradulations on your new boat.I am not quite sure what sort of deck bag you mean when you say mount one inside the coaming to help with knee problems. The deck bags we use on the top of the front deck would not be suitable for this. However some of us overcome the problem by fiberglassing knee braces under each side of the coaming. This is a good modification because they are custom made to suit the individual paddler but in my case the cockpit was overall too big. The sail I used was a home made one which was a lot of fun in above 15 knot winds. The mast was mounted through the deck and a boom or gaff ( I'm not quite sure of the term) was attached to the mast at about 45 degrees. It had its problems as it was mounted too close to the front of the cockpit and interfered with the paddle stroke. So it was paddling or sailing not both together. A well designed sail in my opinion should be well forward so as to not get in the way while paddling and also lay snugly to the deck out of the way. I will be fitting a sail to my Pittarak shortly but I want to see how Peter O's sail performs first. I would like to make it as big as possible without becoming unmanageable.Dennis ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
