Going with other paddlers, it is not too bulky to take. I use a white gas version that is more compact, harder to keep lit, and cantankerous. It is incredibly cheaper to run, and requires a very small volume of fuel. In the latter two respects (and the cantankerous one, too), it's more like me, so I guess I'm stuck with it.
