G'Day Scott, Well of course I should have said the dealer lives in Australia not America and sadly we are equally sue happy. My preferred response would be to try and pressure the shop to replace the hatches and rims particularly as the boat was sold at the sort of fair price you would expect for a properly made sea kayak. I guess I was just blowing off steam and exasperation as well as trying to point out a hazard I hadn't thought of. By the way most of the dealers I've come across over here are excellent, this was an exception.
