Linda and I are selling our canoes, since we haven't used them since we bought our Romanys: We-no-nah Jensen 18. 18", 52 lbs. Skin coat, foam core fiberglass construction. This is my old Boundary Waters canoe: fast, light, and straight-tracking, custom-made made with a whisker of flare in the bow for better wave deflection. It has a number of scratches and stress marks, mostly on the bottom, but is otherwise structurally sound. Built-in carved portage yoke. Accessories include two custom-made thwart bags built like camera bags, a detachable solo seat, and three Bending Branches bent shaft paddles, two of which I bought from Ron Hultgren when he was making them in his garage. (These paddles may have some historical interest. One has a layer of fiberglass covering the entire blade, which is how Ron was making them then. The other, at my suggestion, was made with fiberglass only on the bottom part of the blade to reduce the weight. This worked so well that Ron started making all his paddles like that.) $800 or best offer. Bell Creek Runner. 14' 5", 38 lbs. Kevlar construction with ash gunwales, robin's egg blue gel coat. The Creek Runner is a solo canoe for the smaller paddler designed by Bob Brown (himself a small person), who also designed the CJ Special with Cliff Jacobson. Bob says there were only about six made, so this one, which is serial number 0001, is something of a collector's item. Except for some minor scratches, the condition is excellent. Accessories include an unused detachable portage yoke, a thwart bag, and a couple of beavertail paddles. Bob says the canoe might be worth $800 - $900, but Linda is asking only $750. Both canoes are located in St. Paul, Minn. We can be contacted by e-mail at cholst_at_bitstream.net or by telephone at 651-647-9492.
