The Anas was the predecessor of the Pintail (my favorite boat until I started
playing with Chesapeake Light Craft stitch'n'glue kits), with the Pintail (a
duck with a long tail) derived from Anas Acuta, Latin for Pointy-Butt Duck,
essentially. They're similar in design, except that the Pintail has rounded
chines and doesn't track as well, but is great in its maneuverability.
Volume is similar --- slightly greater in the Pintail. Great Rivers (the
importer) has always characterized the Pintail as ideal for a 145 pound
paddler --- me. With a 40 pound displacement helium balloon tied to my neck.
So it's not exact science. Anyone much larger than me --- 6'1", 185, size
10 shoe --- has a problem fitting into the Pintail. The Anas will be
tighter.

That said, I've been in the boat for as long as eight and a half hours, and
was not uncomfortable during the entire period. It's what you get used to.
But, for a larger person in an Anas ---? I'd want to have a long try-out
paddle in it before buying it.
