Good evening,

I use a Garmin GPS76S. I have also used the Voyageur waterproof cell
phone/gps case for the extra protection as well. I am just not comfortable
with the unit clipped to the kayak without any protection. However, you might
consider the heat that is generated in this bag with the GPS running and a
bright warm day. The unit gets too hot under these conditions in the enclosed
bag. Any opinions?

Regards,

Jim Fitzgerald

More of a concern to me would those occasions where moisture begins to
condense in the bag from something damp having been in there. Then I open the
bag to let it 'breathe' for a few minutes.

If the bag/GPS gets too hot, I pour a little water on it....

I have a Garmin eMap and use it inside an AquaPac waterproof bag. I've
never found excess heat to be a problem while kayaking but have noticed
a darkened LCD display a couple times from leaving the unit on the dash
of the car on a hot day.
If it ever did overheat while kayaking it would be easy enough to either
shade the unit or cool the bag exterior with water.
