One thing I tried was a flat-paddle brace while leaning in a turn. Up to speed, a sweep on one side, brace on the other and ride the turn. The outside hand is off the paddle and the inside hand keeps its normal position. To clear the hull, I hold the paddle at an angle to the hull with the blade closest to my hand near and back and the other blade out and forward - the paddle moves almost 180 degrees in the air over the kayak in the setup. I had trouble getting the right angle etc. I want enough lift to lean heavily on the paddle along with just enough drag to assist in the turn. In the "needs work" category. I'm not proposing this as a highly functional turn, but it might impress the cheering crowds.
