You've read that book too, I see. I didn't finish grad school, but I did 
study Moby Dick in a course called Politics in the Age of the Anti-Christ 
(seriously). It's an apocalyptic novel and well suited to headlamp perusings 
along strange shores. Good choice! 

I'm a poor keeper of the log. I would prefer to sketch my impressions of the 
places, as well as my feelings, than record the eminently useful data such as 
sea and weather conditions and boat repair issues. I don't burn books, 
however. I've even got a water wrecked copy of Narcissus and Goldmund by 
Herman Hesse I refuse to commit to the woodstove. Duct tape is for more than 
gear repair.
