This request came to the Atlantic Sea Kayakers (for some reason), and I'm opening it up to everyone in the NY City Paddling Community. ASK received a call from a publicist who is planning the party for the release of the Lord Of The Rings DVD on August 5. The party is at the Boathouse on the Lake in Central Park, and the publicist wants to deliver the DVDs by rowboat from across the Lake, with rowers dressed in Middle Earth costumes. Seriously. She needs twenty paddlers to crew 10 boats -- one rower in each boat and one person in the bow to hand the DVD to the press people waiting on shore. This event will be from about 6 to 9 pm on Monday, August 5, and the pay is $50. All boats & costumes will be supplied. The preference is for experienced kayakers, but there's not going to be any test. Anyone who can handle a rowboat should do fine.
