A 3 mm or 4 mm bulkhead is all that's necessary. What you should do is put in a vertical stiffener, about 20 mm square (20 x 30 mm ?), epoxied on to the bulkhead. No need to glass the bulkhead both sides, we never do. It will be the vertical stiffener that will take the stress and that is what should be well fastened to the hull and underdeck.
