  --Used to put name and Phone # with nail polish.  Nowadays I still use nail
polish but in a different manner.  





I print, in large font, my name and phone # on a clear address label on my
inkjet.  (I'll do a pageful at a time so they're always handy).  Stick one
onto some conspicuous but protected place, such as on a paddle blade very near
the shaft entry...


  Now, cover the entire label and a little of the paddle blade with Sally
Hansen's "Hard as Nails", clear covering.  It's very strong stuff and
waterproof.  Holds up very well -- been on one paddle 1 1/2 years now.
There's been a bit of sun-fading but it's still clearly readable.  


    Have a black blade?  Use the "Hard as Nails" in one of the White shades
first, then put the label over that....  I've done the same now for a number
of things and it's held up well.





    For smaller stuff where there isn't much room, I put three narrow bands of
colored tape around some part of it.  Good for carabiners and rescue gear when
different owners' stuff can get mixed up;  climbers use this a lot....

  Would like to get some ideas on how you mark or how to mark your equipment


  ie. kayak, paddle, pfd etc with pertinent information to help in case


  something is lost or stolen.
