The discussion of boat color for best visibility reminded me of a pair of photos taken from a Canadian search aircraft that was posted on the Folbot Forum (http://www.folbot.com/yak.htm) a couple months ago. The first is just the bare bones; the second has the "survivor" located. The survivor is wearing a hi-vis yellow PFD, and I believe the aircraft is operating from their "standard" search altitude. The photos are taken on a bright, sunshiny day, with what looks like a fully-developed 15 knot sea running (white caps, in other words). The challenge is to see if you can locate the survivor in the first photo. Anyone thinking that hi-vis anycolor helps much to make you visible from a search aircraft should take this test. Can't post the jpegs here, but I'll email the pair to those who want to take the test. Or, maybe somebody has a Web site I can shoot these to?
