OK, Star Trek was mentioned so the door is open.  Gene Roddenberry, creator
of Star Trek, was asked how a transporter worked.  He said it used a
Heisenberg uncertainty compensator.  The interviewer asked how the
compensator worked.  Mr. Roddenberry said, "Very well, thank you."
Now THAT is a clear explanation.
