I have a friend that had her Lab go through the ice trying to get to some ducks
in unfrozen area of a pond.  I got verrrrry cold and wet getting her out!

I'm curious as to just how the leash will keep your dog from trying to get to
the ducks?  Or is it to give you a means to retrive the retriver???  :-)
