Yup!  I've used that size when I've prepared meals for Sierra Club trips.  
Tip:  put duct tape all around the closure and don't open it until you have 
to.  We use the ice packs that you fill with water and freeze - and then have 
cold water to drink.  This avoids the melting ice issue, but ice does keep 
for a long time.

I also have the smaller one (can't find #quarts on it) and it is wonderful.  
It's slightly taller and holds a champagne bottle upright (!).  Last weekend 
we went out on Friday and still had some ice cubes on sunday...but it wasn't 
taped shut and we opened it frequently.
