The paddlers that were reported missing on the Hudson have been located. At about 6:30 AM on the next day (07/31) both fellows were spotted by one of our patrols. They were met by a very upset family who had waited by the launch all night. It is really not clear as to if they intentionally avoided searchers or not. They stated that they had decided to pull into "shore" and start a fire near Bannerman's. The area is not that large an area and had been continuously searched by boats and 3 helo's. Given the color that the boat was and such it is entirely possible to have missed them. However missing the fire in that area (which is under 24 hr surveillance) is somewhat suspect. In any event the two lads are now safe and sound. For what ever mistakes a person makes in life a happy ending is still the best. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
