You could try a high-temperature glue stick.  That's what they use for
ski poles and if it hardens early, you just reheat the part by soaking
in hot water.  You'd want a high temp glue, since the black ferrule
can get hot in the sun and you don't want the glue melting - though
sticking it in cold water will harden it up quickly.

Other than that, contact the manufacturer and see what they suggest.
