We just got back from a great trip to the Lofoten islands (TR coming
Real Soon Now). This is a great paddling destination: above the Arctic
Circle, not many bugs, absolutely stunning scenery, not very cold water
(Gulf Stream influences). There are not a lot of camping spots, as the
mountains tend to drop straight from 1000m or so into the water, so a
bit of planning is necessary. We were north of Svolvaer, camping in the
back of the Trollfjord for a few days. We had only planned one night
there, but got winded in. I believe there is an outfitter there named
Jann. We went with Crossing Latitudes, a Swedish-American company;
highly recommended.
