I just returned from San Diego. I learned a few interesting things. After paddling don't pull your wet neoprene spray skirt off too quickly when not wearing anything under your shorts. It tends to both surprise and embarrass the shop owner. Sea lions look much happier when frolicking in the ocean then in a concrete pool at the zoo. They look a hell of a lot bigger too. I kept my distance.
When I flew out to go home I looked back into the sunny blue waters and realized the only thing that my eye was attracted to over and over was a straight line. Just like I had been told for years. Color seemed much less important, but not irrelevant. I think I will buy one of those streamers that you deploy when things get deep.
