Saw this in the Miami Herald a few days ago:

"SOSpenders is recalling approx. 7,200 automatic inflatable personal
flotation devices because some of them won't inflate.

Only about 300 Hammar model MA1 manual/automatic inflators were loaded
incorrectly, but the company is recalling all Hammar products for safety
inspection.

The malfunction was discovered during in-house testing and the company
immediately notified the Coast Guard, which issued the recall."

"West Marine sold the Millennium PFDs from March 5 through Aug. 13 for about
$200 - $250."

I'm afraid the list of items and part numbers is way too long for me to type
out, but it says that "all vests should be returned to SOSpenders."

"For information on disarming the vest and other return procedures...
call 800-858-5876 or go to www.sospenders.com

This Hammar ... is the Auto-Activator for the CO2, the automatic function
canŽt be disarmed, so this kind of inflatable vest isnŽt made for paddlers.
In a marine shop nearbay I heard nothing bud bad things about this
Hammar-Activator. Nice to hear Sospender is going to "react" so fast...

Thanks for the alert, Sandy.

I had a lot of problems finding the rearming cannister for mine, and now the
website won't load. I could never get in touch with the company before,
online, and gave up and dealt with WestMarine - had to go to the US to get
the part. I hope SOSpenders are going to come through on this. (I used
mine for sailing, not paddling.)
