If ya like 'em: fine. If ya don't want them and can rescue yourself in the 
prevailing conditions without them: even better. I think you answered the 
question with your second sentence. In addition to technical, personal and 
other differences with the product, the hostility may also be coming from the 
word:
M-A-N-D-A-T-E.
