[Paddlewise] Tyne Rigid Canoes

Hi all,

In the mid sixties, whist still at school, I built a "Tyne Rigid
Canoe"(kayak). It was of canvas on wood construction, single seat and about
nine/ten feet (ish?) long. I had some great fun in it and (a nostalgia thing,
I know plastic would perform better) I would very much like to build another.

The plans are long since lost (my old Woodwork Master tells me they went
missing over twenty years ago!) but I am hoping that someone on this list will
be able to help me with building information.

Ideally I would like to be able to borrow/copy a set of original plans
('though I'm aware that this is extremely unlikely) but pictures, dimensions
etc. may help to revive my memory enough to complete the task a second time.

If anyone has any information that may help me, will you please reply to
peterihoy_at_gtonline.net I would also appreciate details of suppliers of canvas,
rubberised paints etc. which I would require.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, all contributions will be greatly
appreciated.

Pete Rihoy,

Guernsey, C.I.
