A caution on the use of ibuprofen while kayaking. This would
apply to those who do long distance paddling, especially on
long trips.

At the above link, scroll down to the section on Pain Relievers.
Amie recently returned from the NYC marathon and had a brochure
that contained almost the same information. It was from the
marathon medical director and it would appear that the
indiscriminant use of ibuprofen and similar pain relievers is
contraindicated for endurance athletes. The significant difference
between the brochure and this web site is the time prior to
an activity - midnight before on the web site and 24 hours before
in the brochure.
