Hi Steve: Last summer a friend let me test drive his Capella. Big mistake. It made my Seaward Ascente feel pretty inadequate in comparison. The owner suggested I test out the Gulfstream if I had the opportunity. Later in the summer I made a trip to Boundary Bay to compare the two boats. I took them down to the beach for a couple of hours. I found them to be extremely similar in handling. There are some minor differences in deck rigging and in the location of the skeg in relation to the rear hatch. You may want to take note of this it may be an issue for loading gear. At the end of the day I preferred the Gulfstream only because the cockpit fit me better. I would suggest you also consider the CD Caribou. This is a hard chinned boat that I think I would choose over the Gulfstream. I have now decided to build a wooden kayak this winter, the Caribou has similar lines to what I am planning to build. grant ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Thompson Forest Management Summerland, BC (250) 494-1492 Fax 494-1417 gathompson_at_telus.net *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
