It failed and I took it apart and could see that lots of water had gotten in and corroded the electronics. WARNING Garmin will ONLY replace the unit if it is under warranty which means less than 1 year old. If its older than 1 year and leaks you have to pay them to fix it. I have had similar problemes with "submersible" VHF radios.
