I have just returned home from a weeklong trip to Costa Rica where I did not kayak -- however, I did use my Garmin Etrex daily, carrying the thing through the rainforest, primarily in extremely wet conditions. Despite its previously mentioned difficulties in finding satellites quickly when first turned on, it worked wonderfully.
