For all you guys that want more sunshine to paddle in....come on down to Corpus Christi, TX ! Saturday we paddled from 10:30am to 2:30am on Lake Corpus Christi. Almost canceled the trip: weatherman forecast sunny and 75, but winds 20-25 with gusts higher, and we had a couple of new kayakers on the trip. In actuality, it was sunny and 75, but after launching at 10:30...winds were reported at 11 to be 30mph, and max wind was 41mph. Fortunately the cove we launched in was fairly protected...but I am amazed at how high the waves were on the open lake. Two of us eventually paddled the 3 miles across into wind and waves....averaged 3.1 mph....surfed back and averaged 5.1 mph. Pictures of paddle are at the new "Corpus Christi Lake" album page 2 at http://community.webshots.com/user/johnsonkw1 Other places to paddle in Corpus Christi are under the "Kayaking beautiful Corpus Christi album"..page 1 Another sunny winter paddle was 12/15/02....St Charles Bay album on page 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MSN 8 with e-mail virus protection service: 3 months FREE*. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
