Does anyone on the list have any experience with obtaining fresh water from
salt water by any of the following, or any other, method?

1. a fire heated still

2. a solar still

3. a pump/filter such as Katadyn

All information and comments welcome.

Peter,

takes awhile and ALOT of firewood. used an old pressure cooker with
plumbing attached to the relief valve.

Katadyn is a h2o filter not a reverse osmosis pump. I have a PUR RO pump in
a sail boat bail out kit that I have never used. $500 or so. I have talked
to folks who have used it and I think the net is 1 liter an hour or so.
something that might work in a liferaft but pretty tedious for general water
production.
