Subject: [Paddlewise] fitting bulkheads

I thought myself to be a pretty inventive guy, but there is always
something more to learn. The site "paddling.net", probably known to most
of you, explains a genious way to cut bulkheads to fit in your boat.
It's worth a look:

Very clever. Interestingly, I read an article in Fine Homebuilding
magazine on something very similar to this, also described as an "old time"
building technique called "ticksticking"--mostly used by carpeters for
cutting difficult patterns for finish wood working. The only difference I
could see is that instead of using a sawtooth pattern, ticksticking just
uses a straight, narrow, pointed stick with pencil marks to establish the
position for each measurement. Definitely a useful trick.
