This is good news. Given the date, anyone travelling will probably have to do some educating of the airline staff when boarding. I'd be tempted to get approval in writing before flying. You should post this on rec.boats.paddle and possibly rec.backpacking (I no longer follow the latter), since many folks would like to know about this.
