Hi All, We have an annual tradition of paddling on New Year's Day on the Mississippi River here in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The air temperature was in the twenties and the water temperature in the thirties (fahrenheit). We were about 35 boats, including sea kayaks, whitewater kayaks and canoes. It was fantastic! People were rolling and playing about. See our club photos at http://www.inlandseakayakers.org/photos.html The reporters from both large local newspapers came down and we made it on the front cover of both newspapers (not too much hard news on January 2?). Check out Inland Sea Kayaker and Paddlewiser Aaron White in the Star Tribune -- the photo was quite literally on the front page of the paper, about 6x6 inches! You can't tell it's Aaron with all that cold water on him, but it is. http://www.startribune.com (Should Auld Man Winter be forgot? is the article title) Another local guy made it onto the Pioneer Press (St. Paul) http://www.pioneerpress.com (see bottom of page to get PDF of front page) Jody *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
