Hi Folks,

This subject is probably best suited somewhere else, but there seem to be
plenty of scientific minds on Paddlewise, and as most of you appear to be
locked away in the cold and dark, it may be a challenge.

Santa Claus, AKA my wife, has given me a stainless-steel vacuum flask. It is
a replacement for the previous two, which failed to insulate the contents.
The first one, bought at REI, lasted a little over a month, while the second
lasted a week.

As they are a very simple construction, with only one external seam, I don't
understand how the vacuum could leak (is that what vacuum's do?) unseen.
This is the only way I can figure that they have failed.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

My wife and I have had the same couple of stainless steel thermo
bottles for years now. They have been heavily used too. Thier brands
are respectively MEC and EMSA. Thier only fragile point is the kork.

Heard of one who tried to weld a handle on the bottle - whizzz..... No
more vacuum. :-)
