Is a size 13 > Swellie "Brit size" or "American size"...or "Canadian size"?! You might be out of luck. I wear the size 13 and they are comfortably large (ie, suitable for cold weather insulation inside). They definitely aren't in the US 14 range. My Saloman hiking boots are a perfect fit at size 12 (UK 12.5) for comparison. > "Michael Daly" <michaeldaly_at_rogers.com> wrote: > >The only modification I made to my Swellies was to sew a hem into the > >end of the strap at the top. Actually, I lied - there is one other mod I made. I added some Superfeet insoles to them to make them more comfortable for walking around. The insoles make them more resistant to bruised feet from walking over rocks and stuff. They also make the foot more stable so my foot doesn't stay put while the boot rolls over. > I just can't leave well enough alone...I want to buy a pair of Swellies > at $28US, but I really like the apparent function of the lace-up Chota > Mukluks. Do you think an ankle strap addition would be a beneficial > mod to the Swellies, or do they not really need it? I do see some advantage to the ankle strap/lacing system on other boots. The Swellies are pretty loose around the ankle and I can imagine having a great deal of trouble it you step out of the kayak into some soft soils or muck - the boot will likely come off when you pull your leg out. Also it would help avoid the boot rolling problem I mentioned above. Swellies are good and cheap, but they aren't ideal. We need a cross between a Five-Ten style water shoe and a calf-high top - one that fits us guys with big feet!
