Early in the morning on January 23, 2003 I had my vehicle stolen from a neighborhood in Sacramento, California. Along with the rest of my belongings, the thiefs are now in posession of all of my paddling gear and my boat, which was strapped to the roof of the car. Because of the type of kayak, my assumption is that it will eventually end up somewhere along the west the coast. I was given these e-mail addresses to send this information to in hopes that you could spread the word in the kayaking community, put up some signs, pass along this e-mail, and potentially recover my boat and aid in catching the thiefs. Any help or information you could provide in this situation would be greatly appreciated. The details of the kayak are as follows: 19ft. Seaward Quest X3. Yellow Deck, White Hull, Blue Trim. It has a deck compass, a rudder, a new back band, recessed hatches, and some customizing done in the cockpit. Just aft of the compass is a 2" spot that has been rubbed flat. The bulk head between the day hatch and the cockpit has been moved forward, so it is directly behind the backband. The kayak is about 1 1/2 yrs old and has the general scratches on the hull that come with use. The serial number on the stern is QKN 001200201. The paddle, which may or may not be in use with the kayak, is a 220 Mid-Swift with Blue blades. At the throat of each blade is scratched in either "CMD" or "DODGE." A report was filed with the police on the day of the theft. I do not have the report number on my person at this time, but I would be happy to send it to you as soon as I can. The detective who is handling the case is Det. Reese of the Sacramento Police Department. I will send his phone number along with the report number. Thank you for posting this message and passing the word along. If you have any information regarding this kayak and its where-abouts, please e-mail carriedodge_at_yahoo.com <http://us.f214.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Compose?To=carriedodge_at_yahoo.com> and/or wdodge_at_freeway.net <http://us.f214.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Compose?To=wdodge_at_freeway.net> or call 207-240-9523 (my cell #), or 231-526-5140 (ask for Bill).
