We did this several years ago, in mid May, from Judith Landing to Kipp Rec.
Area. Camped at Kipp the night before and got a shuttle to take us and and
canoe to Judith Landing.

Started out on a calm sunny morning and by noon a storm that lasted 2 days
and caused a "10-year flood" was setting in. We spent two days and nights
in the tent, then set out in a good current, accompanied at times by large
branches and other debris kicked loose from flooding. Eventually it turned hot.

The paddling is easy but the water is cold and swift enough that you don't
want to capsize or fall out (though it's probably not always quite as cold
and swift as we experienced.) Saw very few people on the river. Camping
spots are available, but not overly numerous as I recall. We used an
aluminum canoe but I think just about anything would be OK.

Great scenery and wildllfe. Highly recommended.
