Hello, I have had a fair amount of responses to the e-mail below. So: unless it rains and storms heavily (never mind the Portland drizzle) Paddlers for Peace are on! Please arrive by the Eastside Hawthorne Bridge between 1 and 1.30, so everybody has time to meet, unload and talk for a minute. Hopefully we can all be in the water at 1.30. There will be purple peace balloons for early birds! For your favorite peace sign: Try writing on white plastic and taping that on top or on the side of your boat. I still hope we will have enough boats to form a message in the water. Bubbles anybody? Please note that there will be a feeder march leaving from the bridge at the same time, so there will be lots of people and potential parking hassles. If you bring your walkman you can listen to the rally live at KBOO 90.7FM. Looking forward to being part of history with all of you on Saturday, Gabi ___________________________________________________________ Please see http://www.rdrop.com/~pjw/ for info about another LARGE peace rally and march in Portland on March 15th. The rally will be by the Waterfront and several people have expressed interest in having a "Peace Paddler Float" in the river as part of the event. *The rally starts at 2PM with a keynote speaker ( civil rights activist John Lewis), a march will start at around 2.30 and will return to > the Waterfront after marching for about 90 minutes. > Since MANY people are expected, and not all will > march, there will be a continous presence at the > Waterfront.
