Duane,

What a great report but even more what a fantastic accomplishment. I can
understand why you won't do another one---it's like trying to be the first
person to climb a mountain. You've already done it--but there will probably
be other personal firsts for you in the future.

I'm absolutely amazed that you were able to paddle that distance. My
personal best on the ocean was 25 NM and I know how I felt at the end. I'm
sure that the fatigue and mental issues increase exponentially with the
increasing distance.

I wish I could have joined Dave and Mike on the last 25 miles with you, but
since I was just getting back on the water from a shoulder injury, I knew
that I wouldn't be able to go the distance. As it was I did 7 easy miles
(half was inside a harbor) that day and I still felt it.

Again, CONGRATULATIONS on a personal best. You deserve a lot of credit for
accomplishing something most paddlers will never be able to do.

Steve Holtzman
