I've mostly used a trailer for five years and have had good success with
it. There are some issues. Take a look at my web page (see URL below), and
look for an article, "kayak trailering" in the "boats and gear" section. (I
don't remember the exact URL from here at the office.)

I saw a truck bed extender at a local lake, with 2 kayaks.  For those
with a pickup truck it's a cool option.  The one I saw was custom built
with lights on the bed extention.

I've got a old canoe trailer from a summer camp.  It'll hold 11 canoes or
a lot of kayaks.
The storage box underneath is nice feature.
